Damrosch’s research project will bring around ten graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to the Institute for World Literature as members of the year’s Balzan Colloquium. Each summer for five years, they will develop their work on a common topic in world literary studies for publication.

David Damrosch is Ernest Bernbaum Professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard University and Director of the Institute for World Literature. His main works are What is World Literature (2003), The Buried Book (2007), How to Read World Literature (2009), How to Read World Literature, Comparing the Literatures (2020), and Around the World in 80 Books (2021). With his wide-ranging oeuvre, David Damrosch is one of the most respected and influential figures of contemporary world literature studies.
